Coalition Members Call for a Week of Action to Delay the Health Insurance Tax
MAY 02, 2019
The health insurance tax (HIT) is back – and if Congress doesn’t take action, nearly 22 million Americans covered by Medicare Advantage will face costs they can’t afford. Premiums are projected to go up $241 next year if the tax goes into effect.
In response, the Coalition for Medicare Choices and its more than 2 million members are mobilizing for a week of action to protect Medicare Advantage and delay the HIT. Members are contacting their members of Congress urging them to delay the tax – and telling them all about the negative and costly impact of the tax.
Medicare Advantage provides better access to care, better service, and better value to help millions stay healthy. The program allows access to a variety of benefits at a cost Americans – many of them living with fixed incomes of less than $20,000 a year – can afford. These benefits usually include drug coverage, vision, hearing, dental, fitness, mental health, and management of chronic illness and disease – and Medicare Advantage often even caps out-of-pocket costs.
