Coalition Members Meet Virtually with Representative Kildee

Three members of the Coalition for Medicare Choices (CMC) recently met virtually with Representative Dan Kildee (D-MI-05) to discuss how Medicare Advantage provides seniors and those with disabilities access to high-quality, affordable care they can depend on.

Coalition member Charles explained that he is very satisfied with the preventive care he has received through Medicare Advantage. He detailed the ease with which he has been able to access testing and checkups and said his experience with Medicare Advantage has been very straightforward. He especially enjoys the Silver Sneakers program and other wellness offerings he can access with his coverage.

Dawn shared that Medicare Advantage was crucial in helping her successfully navigate and recover from a serious illness. She told the group that Medicare Advantage coverage is a necessary option for seniors and its comprehensive approach provides relief in navigating what can be a maze of medical treatments. Dawn went on to say that Medicare Advantage’s prescription drug coverage has been a godsend.

Chris, a Coalition member and pastor of Cathedral of Faith church, explained that his largely African American congregation in Flint relies on Medicare Advantage, and for a community with unprecedented health challenges, Medicare Advantage is needed now more than ever. He shared that several members of his congregation have expressed satisfaction with Medicare Advantage.

Representative Kildee thanked the participants for meeting with him and said, “I, along with the vast majority of my colleagues have signed letters opposing cuts to Medicare Advantage.”

The CMC is grateful to Representative Kildee for meeting with our Coalition members and for his support of Medicare Advantage.
