Coalition Members Meet Virtually with Representative Stauber

Three members of the Coalition for Medicare Choices recently met with Representative Pete Stauber (R-MN-08), allowing our Coalition members to share their personal experiences with the benefits and value of Medicare Advantage.

Medicare Advantage advocate Heather frequently interacts with seniors through her job. Medicare Advantage has been essential in improving the health of seniors, in her view. She said, “The main priority for us [as an organization] is that the plans are affordable for seniors,” which is exactly what Medicare Advantage offers.

Jennifer, another advocate, also works with seniors and frequently hears about why they love Medicare Advantage plans. She said, “A big aspect of these plans is that they are all-in-one coverage. A lot of people like to have that where they pick one plan, and it takes care of everything and covers everything they might need.” Jennifer concluded by saying, “The zero-premium plans have been great for people who have a more limited budget.”

Coalition member Kristi told the group that Medicare Advantage provides extraordinary health care for seniors in her area. With expanded telehealth services during the pandemic, Medicare Advantage addressed the need for virtual care, Kristi said. Medicare Advantage will even cover the cost of transportation, she added, eliminating challenges that seniors face when trying to receive care.

Representative Stauber reiterated his support for Medicare Advantage saying, “We signed on to the [Medicare Advantage support] letter this year, and we will continue to support options for senior health care that best suit their needs.” He added that telehealth services are an important advancement in health care services made by Medicare Advantage.

The CMC is grateful to Representative Stauber for meeting with our Coalition members and for his continued support of Medicare Advantage.
