Coalition Members Meet Virtually with the Office of Representative Neguse

October 26, 2021

Colorado members of the Coalition for Medicare Choices (CMC) recently met virtually with the office of Representative Joe Neguse (D-CO-2) to discuss how Medicare Advantage provides them with high-quality, affordable health care.

Coalition member Mike told the group about his career representing labor in Colorado and how Medicare Advantage helped him since retiring. He said that when he retired, he “switched to Medicare Advantage as soon as [I] was eligible.” Mike shared that he has been very happy with his coverage and considers himself part of the 94% of enrollees who are satisfied with Medicare Advantage. He added that benefits such as capped out-of-pocket costs and lower costs for dental and vision coverage are valuable.

Pat, another Coalition member, explained that when she retired, she had the option to join her husband’s plan or go on Medicare Advantage. After reviewing her choices, she decided to go with Medicare Advantage, and she has been incredibly satisfied with her health coverage. She shared that she recently had a knee replacement which cost $150,000. Because of her coverage, she only paid a $100 copay. And while she still takes medication post-surgery, she pays “almost nothing.” She concluded by saying that Medicare Advantage is a program that Americans can be proud of and that “this is a program that works, and it is important to the seniors out there.”

A staff member for Representative Neguse closed by saying the Congressman supports Medicare Advantage and that there are many in Washington focused on protecting the program.

The CMC is grateful to the office of Representative Neguse for meeting with our Coalition members and for his continued support of Medicare Advantage.
