Coalition Members Meet Virtually with the Office of Representative Stevens

Three members of the Coalition for Medicare Choices (CMC) recently met virtually with the office of Representative Haley Stevens (D-MI-11) to discuss the role Medicare Advantage plays in providing high-quality, affordable health care.

Coalition member Barbara explained that she works closely with seniors and Medicare Advantage has been an essential resource. She hopes that the benefits of Medicare Advantage can be shared more broadly so that more seniors can learn about the benefits and perks of the program.

Karl, another Coalition member, reiterated that Medicare Advantage works for seniors. He said that he enjoys the Silver Sneakers program, and that Medicare Advantage provides a “one-stop shop” experience that cuts down on the usual stress of navigating health care coverage.

Mary followed up by noting the perks of the program that she enjoys. She makes regular use of the Silver Sneakers program, and loves that beyond vision, medical, and dental benefits, the quality-of-life benefits make Medicare Advantage an essential program for seniors and people with disabilities. She added that changes to the program could cause interruptions for patients and providers.

Representative Stevens’s staff made clear that she is committed to Medicare Advantage and the office would be happy to remain in contact with the participants to discuss the program further.

The CMC is grateful to the office of Representative Stevens for meeting with our Coalition members.
