Our Maine Coalition members, along with a few local elected officials, trekked through a heavy snowstorm to meet with Senator Susan Collins’ in her Augusta office and discuss Medicare Advantage. There, they shared with Sen. Collins’ staff why they love and support the Medicare Advantage program and thanked Sen. Collins for being a champion for Medicare Advantage.

Coalition members Ben and Linda shared that over the past few years, they have incurred around $150,000 in medical expenses, including hospital stays and treatments. However, thanks to their Medicare Advantage plan, their remaining out-of-pocket expense was minimal. This is extremely important to Ben and Linda and millions of  Americans 65+ covered by the program who are retired and live on fixed incomes. Medicare Advantage allows them to stay happy and healthy at a cost they can afford.

Additionally, a number of policymakers from Maine’s State Legislature shared that their constituents love their Medicare Advantage plans, especially the fitness benefits included in many plans. This keeps them healthy and provides beneficiaries with opportunities to socialize. They shared that they believed it was important for Senator Collins to support Maine’s aging population by protecting Medicare Advantage.

The Coalition for Medicare Choices thanks Senator Collins, and all her colleagues in Congress who are fighting to protect Medicare Advantage.
