Coalition Members Meet with the Office of Senator Graham

Three members of the Coalition for Medicare Choices (CMC) recently met with the office of Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) to discuss how Medicare Advantage provides better services, better access to care, and better value to seniors and individuals with disabilities.

Coalition member Carol has utilized many features of her Medicare Advantage plan and said she likes the broad range of available services. When Carol was diagnosed with cancer, she said she relied heavily on her plan’s coverage and services. Medicare Advantage made recovery easy, she said, by providing on-hand nursing help, occupational and physical therapy, and weeks of food. Carol also received medical equipment at home like an elevated stool, pulse oximeter, and raised toilet seat through Medicare Advantage, she said. Carol added that her coverage makes over-the-counter medication more affordable.

Diane, another Coalition member, is newly retired and is still learning about the benefits of Medicare Advantage. Diane said she enjoys the SilverSneakers workout classes, which she described as a great benefit that helps her stay active.

Coalition member Chancey shared that both she and her mother have had success with Medicare Advantage. After seeing how wonderful her mom’s coverage was, Chancey wanted to enroll too. She said that following a hospitalization, her mother went to a rehab facility that was covered by Medicare Advantage. Chancey said she is grateful to have Medicare Advantage and that she recently started attending SilverSneakers classes. She said she also gets the supplies she needs to care for her diabetes through Medicare Advantage.

Senator Graham’s staff member reiterated Senator Graham’s support for Medicare Advantage and thanked everyone for sharing stories about why the program is important.

The CMC is grateful to the office of Senator Graham for meeting with our Coalition members and for the Senator’s continued support of Medicare Advantage.
