Coalition Members Virtually Meet with Representative Marilyn Strickland’s Office

September 1, 2021

4 members of the Coalition for Medicare Choices (CMC) recently met with the office of Representative Marilyn Strickland to share how Medicare Advantage provides them with health care options that are easy to use and fit within their budget. Coalition members also shared how Medicare Advantage plans have continued to keep them healthy during the pandemic by expanding the use of telehealth.

Coalition member Randy spoke to the important role Medicare Advantage plays in providing preventive care, saying a key advantage of the Medicare Advantage program is that “it’s more than just what you go to the doctor or hospital for.” He cited dental coverage as one of his favorite aspects of Medicare Advantage, reemphasizing that dental health is key to preventative care.

Coalition members Larry and Vicki spoke about how as retirees on a fixed income they value the certainty provided by the cap on out-of-pocket costs. They also highlighted the importance of having dental, vision, and hearing coverage, including that their Medicare Advantage coverage  allowed them to get their first sets of hearing aids, as well as telehealth options. Larry and Vicki also took the time to thank Representative Strickland for signing on to co-sponsor the Ensuring Parity in MA and PACE for Audio-Only Telehealth Act (H.R. 2166).

Another Coalition member Bob shared that his organization advises seniors on coverage, and in doing so, they recommend that seniors consider Medicare Advantage plans as a comprehensive, all-in-one health plan that covers hearing, dental, and vision benefits.

The CMC is grateful to Representative Strickland’s staff for taking the time to meet with members from the Coalition. We also thank Representative Strickland for being a champion for audio-only telehealth, and for her support of the Medicare Advantage program.
