5 members of the Coalition for Medicare Choices (CMC) recently met with staff from Senator Maggie Hassan’s office to share with the office their personal experiences with Medicare Advantage and why their Medicare Advantage plans are important to them.
Coalition member Lisabritt spoke about the importance of Medicare Advantage to New Hampshire’s disabled community. She said that Medicare Advantage provides these individuals with what they need to be active and said that based on what she sees every day she believes that Medicare Advantage is a wonderful program that is making a difference in the lives of individuals with disabilities throughout New Hampshire.
Coalition member Roger shared that he likes Medicare Advantage because it provides Americans 65+ with choices when it comes to selecting the health care plan that is right for them and best suits their needs. He also spoke about how having vision and dental benefits covered under one plan makes it easy on Americans 65+.
Another Coalition member Katherine emphasized how Medicare Advantage is friendly to the budgets of those who use it – she’s had a number of health issues, and firmly believes that if it wasn’t for Medicare Advantage, she would be confined to her house.
Coalition member Joan echoed Katherine’s comment about affordability, highlighting that she recently had to have surgery, and her out-of-pocket costs were minimal – she wouldn’t have been able to afford the surgery if not for her Medicare Advantage coverage. She told the group that her Medicare Advantage plan provides her with peace of mind.
Coalition members also stressed the importance of telehealth, especially audio-only telehealth, for both Americans 65+ who are unable to utilize video technology as well individuals who are disabled. They urged Senator Hassan to co-sponsor the Ensuring Parity in MA for Audio-Only Telehealth Act (S. 150).
The CMC is grateful to Senator Hassan’s office for meeting with our Coalition members and listening to their stories on how Medicare Advantage supports New Hampshirites.
