Coalition Members Virtually Meet with Senator Raphael Warnock’s Staff

September 15, 2021

5 members of the Coalition for Medicare Choices (CMC) recently met with Senator Raphael Warnock’s office to share how their Medicare Advantage plans offer them health care at an affordable price, as well as additional benefits including transportation, and meal delivery that have provided them with peace of mind.

Coalition member Mae told a story about how she’s had 3 knee replacements and not only did her Medicare Advantage plan pay for everything associated with the cost of the surgery, but they also covered the transportation to and from the hospital. As someone living on a fixed income, this provided her with great peace of mind, because she didn’t have to worry about how she was going to pay for her surgery or how to get to and from the surgery, as well as follow-up appointments.

Coalition member Charlene shared that her husband had to go out of state for several days for procedures. Their Medicare Advantage plan covered all the costs of their care, including transportation. Additionally, while Hubert was recovering from surgery, their Medicare Advantage plan delivered groceries to their home.

Another Coalition member Charlene shared that she is a quadriplegic, and she wasn’t supposed to walk again, but thanks to her Medicare Advantage plan she is doing great. She really loves the partnership she has with her Medicare Advantage plan to take care of both her immediate health needs as well as her future health. She is deeply appreciative of the focus on preventative care.

Coalition members also spoke about the importance of audio-only telehealth and urged Senator Warnock to co-sponsor the Ensuring Parity in MA for Audio-Only Telehealth Act (S. 150).

The CMC is grateful to Senator Warnock’s office for meeting with our Coalition members and listening to their positive experiences with their Medicare Advantage plans.
