Coalition Members Virtually Meet with the Office of Representative Hakeem Jeffries

September 3, 2021

5 members of the Coalition for Medicare Choices (CMC) recently met with the office of Representative Hakeem Jeffries to share their positive experiences with Medicare Advantage, and how their Medicare Advantage plans supported them during the COVID-19 crisis. They also spoke about the importance of telehealth and urged Representative Jeffries to ensure that Americans 65+ can continue to utilize telehealth, including audio-only telehealth.

Coalition member Dan shared that his favorite part of his Medicare Advantage plan is his prescription drug benefits, which allows him to access his medications at little cost to him. He told the group that he’s used telehealth twice over the last year and found both visits to be effective in addressing his health care needs.

Coalition member Donna shared that she loves her Medicare Advantage plan because of its focus on preventive care. She continues to teach fitness classes and she credits her Medicare Advantage plan with helping her stay active, fit, and healthy.

Another Coalition member Pat shared how her Medicare Advantage plan kept her safe during the pandemic, including home delivery of her prescriptions so that she didn’t have to leave the house and risk getting sick. She also used telehealth to see her doctors and urged Representative Jeffries to support audio-only telehealth services so that seniors who lack access to broadband internet can still see their doctors.

The CMC is grateful to Representative Jeffries’ office for taking the time to meet with our members.
