Dear Editor,

As a former Chairman of the Armstrong County Democratic Party, I have dedicated myself to improving community needs.

To do that, I have a lot of conversations with my neighbors, fellow Local 3 Iron Worker union members, and residents from all walks of life. I ask them what we can improve upon and what programs and services better their lives.

Over and over again, I hear positive feedback about Medicare Advantage.
This high-quality, affordable, and comprehensive coverage plan improves the lives of seniors all across Armstrong County.

One of the comments I’ve heard the most from resident enrollees on a Medicare Advantage plan is the abundance of choices seniors have when signing up. Plan providers work closely with enrollees to ensure their plan is right for them. As one gets older, more health complications tend to arise. It’s important for seniors to have health coverage that is reliable and flexible to meet their changing care needs. Furthermore, preventative services such as regular screenings and vaccines are crucial in warding off a potential health crisis.

Older folks can’t bounce back as quickly as younger people from injuries or illness, which is why Medicare Advantage prioritizes preventative services for their enrollees. The benefits Medicare Advantage offers keep enrollees healthy and happy.

Medicare Advantage realizes physical activity and community engagement are key ingredients in well-rounded health, so they offer club memberships and exercise classes. Additionally, the program offers increased access to innovative care solutions such as telehealth. I’ve spoken to people from every background across our community, and we all have one thing in common, we want our loved ones to live long and happy lives.

I’m sure our new Senator-elect John Fetterman agrees with that claim, and so I hope he will support Medicare Advantage when he takes his seat in Congress.

Sincerely,

Steven Atwood
