Senators urged to stand up for Medicare Advantage

April 28, 2021

I never expected to retire as soon as I did. I hosted a radio show and loved my job. But in December 2018, I suffered a massive stroke and was forced into retirement. Since then, I have really tried to focus on leading a healthy, active lifestyle, and my Medicare Advantage plan has been an enormous help.

I really appreciate that my plan focuses on healthy living and making it easy for seniors to keep up with our health. That’s especially important to me as I continue my rehabilitation from my stroke. A favorite offering of mine is the free annual home visit, which includes important health screenings. And when the COVID-19 pandemic hit, my doctors’ visits under the plan didn’t skip a beat. I had my annual checkup virtually, helping me stay healthy even during a health care crisis.

The added benefits I have access to, like fitness and wellness programs (even virtually), show just how seriously the program takes preventive health. I hope all members of Congress who represent Tennessee, including Sens. Bill Hagerty and Marsha Blackburn, understand how much it helps seniors in their districts and stand up for this vital program.
