How Medicare Advantage Helps Floridians

Every year Medicare Advantage health plans bring better service, better care, and better value to Floridians like Sandra Cuenca, one of our Coalition members from South Florida.  

After hearing about the peace of mind the program provides her constituents, Rep. Mucarsel-Powell (FL-26) was interested in learning more. To help Rep. Mucarsel-Powell, we connected her with Sandra.  

Sandra shared how the program helps keep Americans healthy by reflecting on her own experience. She highlighted that the preventive health services she can access – including mammograms and other screenings – allow her to stay on top of her health at no cost.  

Rep. Mucarsel-Powell was impressed with how much value the program brings to her constituents and asked Sandra what she liked the most about her coverage.  

Sandra responded, “My health insurance provider, Florida Blue, treats me like a person, not a number. I know I’ve received the most attentive and high-quality care available.” 

Following their discussion, Sandra presented Rep. Mucarsel-Powell with her Medicare Advantage Champion Certificate, thanking her for signing a bipartisan letter to protect the program from harmful changes earlier this year.
