Be wary of politicians threatening our health care

Maintaining my health is essential for my family. For me, it isn’t a question as to whether I will need medical care. I know I will, so I put a lot of thought into choosing my health care plan.

The best option for me has been Medicare Advantage, which promised reliable, low-cost care – something that’s become more difficult to find as my chronic conditions have required more attention and regular doctors’ visits.

They’ve made good on their promise, too. The program is simple, which has made it easy to receive the care I need. My prescriptions are included under the same plan as well, meaning I don’t have to worry about signing up for more than one plan. Not to mention the cost, which is reasonable and spread out year-round, as I owe little in premiums every month and can count on consistent co-pays. Medicare Advantage has taken a lot of the stressful guesswork out of health care.

I’ve watched with concern as politicians threaten to upend the health care system in our country. I hope they remember that the Medicare Advantage program is so important to retirees and individuals with disabilities in Montana, and that they shouldn’t do anything to disrupt our access to this coverage.
