Pike County Dispatch: Medicare Advantage Important
February 18, 2020
To the Dispatch:
While I wouldn’t normally speak out about political issues, I have to be sure that everyone recognizes how important the Medicare Advantage program is to seniors like me.
This program lets me select from a wide variety of full-service, comprehensive health plans. They put everything you need in one plan, so you get your doctors’ appointments and major medical on the same insurance.
This makes getting health care simple. There are no confusing forms or Medigap insurance to find. And the icing on the cake is care coordination. Experts at each plan will work with seniors to help pick a specialist, book appointments, and make sure we are on the same page with our doctors.
A final notch in favor of Medicare Advantage is the free wellness care. This includes checkups and screenings for diseases like cancer and diabetes. I know that I can get help managing a chronic disease, improving nutrition, or other ways to stay on top of my health.
Our Congressman Matt Cartwright may not be on Medicare Advantage, but that doesn’t mean he can’t be an advocate for it. As part of his 2020 campaign and his work in Washington, I’d like to hear what he has to say about protecting such an important program like Medicare Advantage.
Sincerely,
John Wells
