Coalition Members Share Their Medicare Advantage Stories with Rep. Joe Cunningham’s Staff

Last week, South Carolina Coalition members had the chance to meet with the staff of Representative Joe Cunningham in Beaufort. Our members shared with the Congressman’s staff what they love about their Medicare Advantage plans. From low out-of-pocket costs – especially after surgery – to keeping their same doctors, Rep. Cunningham’s staff heard why Medicare Advantage works for more than 23 million Americans.

Jeffrey, one of our Coalition members, told the group about a “last-minute emergency surgery” he had a few years ago that was quite serious. He had no time to think about how to pay for the cost of the operation, but he was pleasantly surprised to find out that his out-of-pocket cost was next to nothing. Medicare Advantage took care of most of his expenses.

Rep. Cunningham’s staff was happy to hear that our Coalition members are enjoying their Medicare Advantage plans. They also made note of the over 30,000 Americans 65+ in Rep. Cunningham’s district who choose Medicare Advantage for their coverage – a testament to the program’s sustained popularity.
