Representative Josh Harder’s Office Listens to How Medicare Advantage Helps Americans

Coalition members met with the staff of Rep. Josh Harder at the district office in Modesto, California in February. The discussion largely focused on how the Medicare Advantage program gives Americans 65+ and their families peace of mind. With a number of our attending Coalition members serving as caretakers for family members enrolled in Medicare Advantage, they described circumstances where the program not only delivered high-quality health services, but also covered the majority of the cost.

Coalition member Debbie discussed how she has compared her Medicare Advantage plan to her friends’ traditional Medicare plans. She noted that her plan has always received superior prescription drug coverage without buying a supplemental plan. Debbie is grateful she doesn’t have to factor in costs when making decisions about her health care – unlike some of her friends who have had to forego care due to the cost.

While the Coalition for Medicare Choices is focused on making sure Americans 65+ continue to have access to stable health care services, we believe it is also valuable to take a step back and consider how this program positively impacts families as well. We are grateful that Rep. Harder’s office took time to hear so many of these stories.
