When the COVID-19 pandemic first struck, like many people my age, I was genuinely concerned. Given my age and pre-existing conditions, the virus posed a real concern for my health. I wanted to take every possible precaution. In those early days we didn’t even have the vaccine, so I tried to socially distance and avoid crowds as much as possible.

As someone with medical issues who requires regular doctor visits, I worried visiting my doctor and being stuck in a waiting room around others who might potentially be carrying the virus. Luckily, I am on a Medicare Advantage plan that covers tele-health visits, so I was able to continue to see my doctor and receive the care I needed without any added risk.

I share this story for two reasons. First, I do like to encourage folks my age to take a serious look at Medicare Advantage because it really does offer more benefits than traditional Medicare and is so easy to access. Secondly, I want our elected officials in Washington to continue to support Medicare Advantage because so many seniors in our state and around our country rely on that coverage.
