Letter: Boost health plans for seniors

I am writing to highlight how important affordable health care is for older Americans like myself.

Because I am no longer working, I live on a fixed income.

I try to save money where I can, which is especially important as everything seems to cost more these days.

I get my health-care coverage through a Medicare Advantage plan, which offers high-quality care while keeping costs extremely low. Medicare Advantage is quite popular as more than 2.4 million Ohioans have a Medicare Advantage plan for their coverage and care.

These seniors, like me, receive the care they deserve at a price that won’t break the bank.

No matter the health concerns I face in the coming years, I have peace of mind. It doesn’t matter if it’s just a routine checkup or a health scare out of the blue — my Medicare Advantage plan has me covered.

With a new Congress getting sworn in to start the new year, I want to congratulate all member-elects on their successful campaigns, including Senator-elect J.D. Vance.

I hope that he will advocate for older Americans on the floor of Congress and protect health-care programs like Medicare Advantage that prioritize our health and wellbeing. Everyone deserves access to health care at an affordable price.
