Medicare Advantage Now Serves Over 30 Million Americans
January 17, 2023
Each year, Medicare Advantage enrollment increases as more seniors and people with disabilities choose the better services, better access to care, and better value Medicare Advantage provides. Today, 30 million Americans — nearly half of those who are eligible for Medicare — choose Medicare Advantage for high-quality, affordable health care coverage.
This milestone highlights the program’s popularity and consistent satisfaction of those enrolled in Medicare Advantage. In fact, 94% of senior voters with Medicare Advantage are satisfied with their coverage, and 93% of senior voters would recommend Medicare Advantage to family and friends.
In the last 15 years, Medicare Advantage enrollment more than doubled, growing from 19% of eligible individuals to nearly 50%. In states across the country, including Florida, California, and New York, over 50% of eligible individuals choose Medicare Advantage.
Members of the Coalition for Medicare Choices (CMC) are mobilizing across the country to tell their stories about the importance of Medicare Advantage coverage.
CMC member Aslee relied on her Medicare Advantage coverage when she was diagnosed with cancer twice and when she needed hip replacement surgery. Medicare Advantage helped Aslee access affordable procedures and treatments that supported her full recovery. When CMC member Beverly needed a complex procedure done, her Medicare Advantage coverage gave her peace of mind, allowing her to focus on recovery.
For Medicare Advantage members like Freda, the mental health benefits Medicare Advantage coverage provides are an important part of well-rounded care. Freda is also grateful that Medicare Advantage offers high-quality care to seniors in rural areas so she can stay healthy.
Care coordination is an essential benefit for those who manage chronic conditions. Thanks to Medicare Advantage, CMC member Charlene can work with her doctors to keep her medication and appointments organized. In addition to managing her care, Medicare Advantage keeps her expenses low through capped out-of-pocket costs and full prescription drug coverage.
These are just a few of the many reasons that Medicare Advantage has strong bipartisan support among enrollees and policymakers alike.
Medicare Advantage provides high-quality, affordable health care coverage and peace of mind, to seniors and individuals with disabilities. That’s why over 30 million people choose Medicare Advantage.
