Coalition Members Virtually Meet with Representative Nancy Mace’s Office

South Carolina Members of the Coalition for Medicare Choices (CMC) previously met virtually with staff from Representative Nancy Mace’s office and shared how Medicare Advantage provides them with better services, better access to care, and better value. 

Coalition member Sherri kicked off the meeting, sharing how both she and her husband saw significant cost savings once they switched to Medicare Advantage. Their plan allows them to access affordable prescription drugs, keeping them healthy. Sherri also explained that Medicare Advantage provides dental and vision coverage all under one plan, which is highly beneficial because it reminds her to get her teeth and eyes checked out, a crucial part to preventative care and staying healthy in the long run.  

Another Coalition member Carol echoed Sherri’s comments about cost savings, telling the group that she had lost her retirement income and struggled financially. Medicare Advantage allowed her to access essential health care services at an affordable price, which she believes saved her and her husband’s lives.  

Coalition member Marcia shared that she’s been on Medicare Advantage for 8 years and like the other seniors, she really appreciates the cost savings. She emphasized the importance of telehealth, including the audio-only telehealth option used by her husband on several occasions. She encouraged Representative Mace to ensure that Americans continue to be able to access telehealth, whether by video or over the phone. 

Coalition member Tom, who has been on Medicare Advantage since 2017, also attested to the affordable health coverage Medicare Advantage delivers. Tom said that he noticed a drop in the cost of premiums and copays when he switched from traditional Medicare to Medicare Advantage. He shared that he is a diabetic, and the cost of his diabetic supplies dropped dramatically when he switched to Medicare Advantage.
