Coalition Members Meet Virtually with the Office of Senator Stabenow

November 22, 2021

Four members of the Coalition for Medicare Choices (CMC) recently met virtually with the office of Senator Debbie Stabenow (D-MI) to discuss the high-quality, affordable care they receive through Medicare Advantage.

Coalition member Tom shared that he received a lot of information about senior health care upon his recent retirement, and had a smooth transition to Medicare Advantage. He has found that his coverage now is better than what he had received throughout his working years.

Anne, another Coalition member, explained that before retirement she received comprehensive health coverage through her job as a teacher. She was worried about losing this level of care after retiring, but she has been very satisfied with her Medicare Advantage coverage. Anne added that a close friend of hers is on Medicare Advantage and loves the physical therapy benefits she can access.

David, another Coalition member and physician, told the group that he values the integrated vision and hearing benefits in his Medicare Advantage coverage. Before enrolling in Medicare Advantage, he explained, coordination of benefits was a big problem for him when trying to navigate primary and supplementary benefits. He added that Medicare Advantage is a one-stop-shop that links enrollees to the local providers they trust.

Coalition member Karl chimed in how popular the Silver Sneakers program is and how much he appreciated the ability to access local YMCAs.

Senator Stabenow’s staff thanked everyone for joining and told the group how impressed they were by the diversity and breadth of experiences among the participants.

The CMC is grateful to the office of Senator Stabenow for meeting with our Coalition members.
