Coalition Members Virtually Meet with Representative Cathy McMorris Rodgers

2 members of the Coalition for Medicare Choices (CMC) recently met with Representative Cathy McMorris Rodgers to thank her for being a strong supporter of Medicare Advantage, and shared how Medicare Advantage kept them safe and healthy during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Coalition member Nancy spoke about the complicated optical issues she has experienced, and shared how the Medicare Advantage program, “has allowed me to live the life I’ve wanted, thanks to its flexibility.” She also spoke about the role telehealth has played in her life, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, and mentioned that she had used both audio and video telehealth services. Nancy urged  Representative McMorris Rodgers to support audio-only telehealth so that Americans 65+, especially those who live in rural areas, can continue to access care.

Coalition member Karen shared that she left the workforce a few years ago, and signed up for Medicare Advantage because she believed it would offer her the same benefits she received through her employer-provided coverage. She said that her favorite aspects of her Medicare Advantage plan are the affordability, the vast network of doctors, and that her plan focuses on preventive care. Karen stressed how her Medicare Advantage plan made sure she stayed safe and healthy during the COVID-19 crisis by sending her a mask and ensuring that she received her prescriptions at home.

Representative McMorris Rodgers reiterated her support for the Medicare Advantage program, saying she has been a “strong supporter” and will “continue to support Medicare Advantage,” as she does not believe in a “one-size-fits-all approach to health care” and appreciates the “flexibility” the program provides to her constituents.

The CMC is grateful to Representative McMorris Rodgers for taking the time to meet with our members, and for her continued support of Medicare Advantage.
