CMC Advocates Voice Support for MA Through Social Media
September 3, 2024
This summer, advocates from the Coalition for Medicare Choices (CMC) took to social media to voice their support for Medicare Advantage. From thanking members of Congress for continued support to encouraging ongoing protection of the program, beneficiaries, community groups, and elected officials in Washington have been showing their support for Medicare Advantage.
Why it matters: Harmful policy changes to the Medicare Advantage program threaten to destabilize the coverage and care that more than 33 million seniors and people living with disabilities rely on.
What they’re saying:
- Rep. Ruben Gallego (D-AZ-3) posted on X with CMC advocates from Arizona.
- “I will always fight to protect Medicare for Arizonans – including for the over 700,000 who rely on Medicare Advantage. It was great to hear from Arizona seniors with @protectmyMA this week about what Medicare Advantage means to them.”
- Former Massachusetts State Sen. Richard Moore posted on LinkedIn applauding Minority Whip Katherine Clark’s (D-MA-5) support for vulnerable populations through Medicare Advantage.
- “As a former colleague of @KatherineClark in the Massachusetts State Senate, my service as Senate Chair of Health Care Financing has given me a deep appreciation for programs like Medicare Advantage that deliver affordability, value, and quality to our residents. Medicare Advantage provides crucial health care coverage and supplemental benefits for nearly half a million Massachusetts seniors and people with disabilities. However, recently proposed cuts by the Medicare Agency undermine this essential program and could result in fewer benefits and higher out-of-pocket costs. Katherine, your support for Medicare Advantage is greatly appreciated. I encourage you to continue to ensure that these vulnerable populations maintain access to the comprehensive care they need. I know that you will stand firm in advocating for this critical program.”
- Patient Advocates United in San Diego County posted on X in support of Rep. Scott Peters (D-CA-50) for his continued backing of Medicare Advantage.
- “We wanted to thank Congressman @RepScottPeters for his continued support of #MedicareAdvantage. Even in the face of policy changes by the Medicare agency earlier this year, the Congressman stood strong in his support for our seniors. Many of our partners serve seniors who require medications for their chronic health issues. @LiverCoalition, @AlzheimersSD, @ElderHelpSD, @ServingSeniors, @mhasd, and others. Medicare Advantage makes getting these medications simple. From robust prescription drug coverage to home delivery of medication for seniors with mobility issues, Medicare Advantage is a true lifeline.”
The bottom line: CMC advocates are speaking up to advocate for Medicare Advantage because it delivers better care at lower costs.
